The NYPD is appealing to the public for help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached photo who they say is sought for questioning in connection to an assault that occurred in Morris Heights.
Police said that on Tuesday, Aug. 8, at around 3.48 p.m., inside 1600 Sedgwick Avenue, a 75-year-old male victim was entering the elevator in the lobby of the location when he got into a verbal dispute with the assailant, who punched him in the face, causing him to hit his head on the side of the elevator and fall to the ground.
“The individual then proceeded to kick the victim numerous times on [the] right side of his body before fleeing the location to parts unknown,” a police spokesperson said. “The victim, who was knocked unconscious, sustained injuries to his right eye and bruising to the entire right side of his body.”
Police said EMS transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
They said the person sought is described as male is around 40, is between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and has a dark complexion, a slim build, black hair and a mustache. They said he was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, black Adidas pants with white lettering, and black and white Adidas slippers.
The attached photo of the suspect was obtained from the incident location, police said.
