Morris Heights: Homicide Investigation Launched after Fatal Stabbing

The NYPD launched a murder investigtiaon after a 29-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx.

 

Police said that on Tuesday, July 2, at around 4.28 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been stabbed in front of 1809 Phelan Place, a few blocks south of the University Heights border.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 29-year-old male in front of the location who sustained a stab wound to the chest,” a police spokesperson said. “EMS transported the male to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.”

 

Police said there are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing. The deceased was later identified as Ronald Gomez-Mesa of Morris Heights.
