Morris Heights: 32-Year-Old Man Dead after Early Morning Fatal Shooting

A 32-year-old man is dead following a fatal shooting in Morris Heights on Monday morning, police said.

 

A police spokesperson said that on Monday, Oct. 21, at around 7.27 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot in the vicinity of University Avenue and Brandt Place.

 

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 32-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the torso,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the male to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.”

 

Police said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. They added that there are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

The identification of the deceased is pending family notification.
