Montefiore to Hold Diabetes Support Sessions Throughout Diabetes Awareness Month

November is American Diabetes Month, a time to raise awareness about the disease and its complications, if left untreated.

 

In New York State an estimated 1.6 million people, or 10.5 percent of the adult population, have diabetes, and the incidence is 16 percent in The Bronx.

 

Throughout November, Montefiore Medical Center is running a series of events and activities to educate and encourage Bronx residents to manage their diabetes.

 

Montefiore held its kick-off event marking the month at Einstein College of Medicine, located at 1300 Morris Park Avenue in the Morris Park section of The Bronx, on Friday, Nov. 4.
