Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Dec. 4 that a Manhattan model has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and related charges in the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man in a Grand Concourse apartment building lobby in the South Bronx in November 2024.
In the context of the announcement, Clark said, “This heinous, brutal attack and was caught on camera. We will seek justice for the victim.” She said that Dynus Saxon, AKA Isaiah James Bennett, 20, of Lexington Avenue, Manhattan, a fashion model, was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the incident.
She said Saxon was arraigned on Dec. 3, 2024, before Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera, and was remanded in custody, adding that he is due back in court in April.
According to the investigation, on the afternoon of Nov. 10, 2024, inside 384 Grand Concourse in the South Bronx, Saxon allegedly repeatedly stabbed Kadeem Grant, 35 with a knife. The court heard that video surveillance in the building allegedly shows Saxon stabbing Grant in the neck and body, then repeatedly punching, kicking, and stomping him.
The court heard that Saxon then plunged the knife into Grant’s chest and that he was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. Prosecutors said Saxon sustained cuts to his hand during the stabbing.
They said the incident occurred when Grant and Saxon, who allegedly did not know each other, both went to visit the same tenant in the South Bronx building and Saxon was told to leave the building.
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Homicide Counsel Morgan Dolan of the Homicide Bureau, under the supervision of Burim Namani, deputy chief of the Homicide Bureau, Christine Scaccia, chief of the Homicide Bureau, and under the overall supervision of James Brennan, deputy chief of the Trial Division, and Theresa Gottlieb, chief of the Trial Division.
Clark thanked Homicide Advocate Emelis Santana of the Crime Victims Assistance Bureau, as well as NYPD Detectives Rossi Mata, Charlie Viera, Mariusz Jasiurkowski and Bismal Tineo, of the 40th Precinct Squad and NYPD Detective Faton Alickaj of Bronx Homicide for their work on the case.
Saxon is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
