An unidentified man was stabbed in the head just outside of the main entrance to Van Cortlandt Park close to Manhattan College in the Fieldston section of The Bronx, and now detectives are looking for two men and a woman who are wanted in connection with the crime.
According to officials the victim was assaulted at 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, opposite 5979 Broadway at West 242nd Street, just north of the Kingsbridge / Fieldston border. In NYPD radio transmissions obtained by Norwood News, a female police dispatcher is heard telling officers, “A male stabbed to the head.” The dispatcher later told officers she had received three calls to the 911 switchboard.
Moments later, as officers arrived at the park’s entrance, one police officer confirmed the incident, telling the dispatcher, “Yeah central, it’s going to be a confirmed male stabbed in the head.”
A video posted to the Citizens App shows an officer speaking with witnesses as paramedics are seen treating the man and later placing him on a gurney. The victim was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital. His condition is unknown currently.
At the time officers at the scene said they were looking for five female and three male suspects who had reportedly fled the scene southbound towards West 228th Street. One suspect was described as male, was dressed in all black, was Hispanic, and was wearing a Northface brand jacket. One of the female suspects was described as short, had red, braided hair and was dark-skinned.
According to police radio transmission, one male was stopped and questioned near the park, and two females and one male were stopped and questioned outside Planet Fitness at Broadway and West 225th Street. None were identified by witnesses as being the people sought according to the police transmission and were subsequently released by police.
In response to an inquiry on the incident sent by Norwood News, on Monday, March 27, an unnamed NYPD official said, “We have not received any additional information on the condition of the victim at this time.” The official added, “No one has been arrested regarding this incident. There were three perpetrators, two males and one female. The investigation is ongoing.”
