FURTHER UPDATE Man Sought for Armed Robbery of Seniors across The Bronx

Police wish to speak to the man pictured in this surveillance video as part of their investigation into a Bronx-wide robbery pattern. The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual who is wanted for questioning regarding a robbery pattern which has been traced across the borough in recent months in various police precincts, namely the 40th, 47th, 49th, 50th and 52nd.

 

The first incident was reported to police in the 49th precinct. On Monday, May 3, at approximately 5.25 p.m., inside a residential building located in the vicinity of Holland Avenue and Brady Avenue in Pelham Parkway, a 79-year-old man was entering his apartment building when an unidentified assailant approached him from behind and placed a knife against his throat. The assailant demanded the victim’s money and then stole $3,000 in cash from the victim’s pockets, before fleeing to parts unknown. There were no injuries reported.

 

 

A second incident was reported in the 50th precinct. On Wednesday, Sept. 8, at approximately 9 p.m., inside a residential building located in the vicinity of Webb Avenue and West 197th Street in Kingsbridge Heights, a 76-year-old man was walking up the stairs of his apartment building when, once again, an unidentified assailant approached him from behind. He pushed the victim against the wall, causing his head to strike the wall, before stealing $40 in cash from the victim’s pockets and then fleeing to parts unknown. Although the victim sustained a minor injury to his head, he refused medical attention.

 

A few days later, a third incident was reported in the 49th precinct. Police said that on Sunday, Sept. 12, at approximately 7.40 p.m., in front of a residential building located in the vicinity of Barker Avenue and Thwaites Place in Allerton, a 78-year-old man was in front of his apartment building when an unidentified assailant, again, approached the victim from behind. He pushed the victim to the ground and stole $20 in cash from the victim’s pockets before fleeing southbound on Barker Avenue in the direction of Thwaites Place. Although the victim sustained minor lacerations to both his arms, he refused medical attention.

 

A further incident was reported in the 52nd precinct. Police said on Friday, Sept. 17, at approximately 3.05 p.m., in front of a residential building located in the vicinity of Grand Avenue and West 190th Street in Fordham Manor, a 72-year-old man was out walking when an unidentified assailant approached him from behind. The assailant pushed the victim to the ground and displayed a knife. He stole the victim’s wallet, which contained his personal information and which had been in the victim’s pocket, before fleeing to parts unknown. Although the victim sustained a minor injury to his hands and mouth, he refused medical attention.

 

Another was reported to police in the 49th precinct. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, at approximately 5.10 p.m., inside a residential building located in the vicinity of Cruger Avenue and Pelham Parkway South in Pelham Parkway, a 90-year-old man was walking inside his building when an unidentified assailant approached from behind. Without the victim’s knowledge, he went through the victim’s pockets and stole his cell phone and wallet which contained $150 in cash before fleeing to parts unknown. There were no injuries reported.

The assailant is described as a man in his 20s of medium build and with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a red NY Yankees baseball cap, a white polo shirt, black pants, a white surgical mask and dark-colored New Balance sneakers.

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, on Sunday, Oct. 3, police confirmed that three additional incidents were added to the Bronx-wide robbery pattern, as follows:

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 28, at approximately 5.10 p.m., in the rear of 2041 Holland Avenue, in Pelham Parkway, located in the 49th precinct, an 81-year-old man was walking toward the building when he was pushed to the ground from behind by an unknown individual. The assailant proceeded to search the victim’s pockets, removing $400 in cash before fleeing to parts unknown. The victim sustained a minor injury to his right hand and refused medical attention at the scene. A surveillance photo which shows the alleged assailant, obtained from near the incident location, is attached.

On Friday, Sept. 17, at approximately 9.20 p.m., in front of 551 East 148th Street, in Mott Haven, located in the 40th precinct, a 48-year-old man was walking westbound on East 148th Street when he was approached from behind by an unknown individual who placed a knife by the victim’s throat. The assailant then forced the victim to the ground and began to search his pockets, removing $35 in cash from him, before fleeing to parts unknown. The victim was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene. A surveillance photo which shows the alleged assailant, obtained from near the incident location, is attached.

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 28, at approximately 5.10 p.m., in the rear of 2041 Holland Avenue, in Pelham Parkway, located in the 49th precinct, an 81-year-old man was walking toward the building when he was allegedly pushed to the ground from behind by an unknown individual, who police believe is pictured.

On Monday, Sept. 20, at approximately 9.55 p.m., inside 711 Magenta Street, in Williamsbridge, located in the 47th precinct, a 65-year-old man was getting off the elevator when an unknown individual pushed the victim to the ground and displayed a firearm. The assailant removed $12 in cash from the victim before fleeing to parts unknown. The victim sustained a minor injury to his right knee but refused medical attention at the scene. It was reported to police that on Friday, September 17, 2021, at approximately 9.20 p.m., in front of 551 East 148th Street, in the 40th precinct, a 48-year-old man was walking westbound on East 148th Street was assaulted by another man who police believe is pictured.

Also, on Oct. 3, police confirmed that two incidents, which were previously included as part of this particular Bronx-wide robbery pattern, had been removed and are being investigated separately.

 

On Oct. 6, police provided additional video and photos of the alleged assailant (attached). We have asked the NYPD for confirmation of the location of each photo / video.
