Police are looking for a gunman who opened fire on another man in the Olinville section of the Bronx. Norwood News learned that both the gunshot victim and neighborhood residents are hesitant to cooperate with the investigation.
Audio from police radio calls reported that officers from the 47th precinct responded to an emergency call from White Plains Road and East 215th Street on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 8:45 a.m. regarding a shooting. It was reported that a 34-year-old gunshot victim had flagged down a taxi after being shot twice in the chest, and once in the leg.
The police radio transmission reported that the NYPD quickly determined that the shooting took place at East 215th Street and Holland Avenue, where responding officers reported that the victim may have been shot after exiting an illegal, social club located on the block. NYPD press officials declined to comment on this aspect of the report.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25, NYPD spokesman, Sergeant Edward Riley, said of the incident, “There is a report on file for an assault which states the victim was shot by an unknown suspect, and he walked himself into the Jacobi emergency room.” Riley added, “The victim is uncooperative at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.”
On Dec. 6, a police radio transmission call reported that officers from the 47th precinct requested that the Emergency Services Unit (ESU) go back to the location of the incident for a follow-up investigation related to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
