Man on Scooter Sought in Bronx Robbery Pattern

The NYPD is appealing to the public for help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached video and photo who department officials say is sought in connection to a Bronx grand larceny (theft) pattern identified across the 46th Precinct, which broadly covers the Fordham, University Heights, Morris Heights and Mount Hope neighborhoods, and the 48th Precinct, which broadly covers Belmont, East Tremont, and West Farms, and includes Fordham University’s Bronx campus, the Cross Bronx Expressway and Crotona Park.

 

Police said the first incident occurred in the 46th Precinct. An NYPD spokesperson said on Sunday, May 21, at around 1.30 p.m., the victim, a 44-year-old man, was standing in front of 361 East 178th Street in Mt. Hope when he was approached by a person unknown to him on an electric scooter. The spokesperson said the person snatched the victim’s chain from his neck before fleeing the location, and added that the victim was uninjured.

 

Police said the the second incident took place in the 48th Precinct. An NYPD spokesperson said that on Wednesday, May 31, at around 8.55 a.m., the victim, a 26-year-old female, was walking in front of 4235 Park Avenue, south of Belmont and west of Crotona, when she was approached by a person unknown to her on an electric scooter. The spokesperson said the person snatched the victim’s chain from her neck before fleeing the location, and added that the victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The NYPD said the third incident also occurred in the 48th Precinct. Police said that on Wednesday, June 7, at around 7.30 p.m., the victim, a 41-year-old male, was walking in front of 2429 Arthur Avenue in Belmont when he was approached by a person unknown to him on an electric scooter. Police said the person attempted to snatch the victim’s chain from his neck before fleeing the location. They added that, once again, the victim was not injured.

 

Police said the thief is described as male, has a dark complexion, is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years of age and has a slim build.
