Dear Fellow Readers!
The Norwood News is out with its latest edition covering Bronx communities. With 24 pages packed into this paper let’s get into the coverage!
The front page focuses on the longstanding issue of mailbox fishing. The practice has become the ire of the NYPD, now trying to curb it with a new offensive. The Norwood News interviewed the lead cop at the 52nd Precinct behind the initiative. We also have an editorial on the NYPD’s tough task.
The paper also has results on the General Election. The outcomes made the September primary official with some new faces going to Albany. Meantime, David Greene covers sex assault allegations made against a Bedford Park priest. At Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, young people go from interns to employees, as reporter Christy Rae Ammons chronicles.
Speaking of MMCC, the Norwood News honored the local institution and three more people for the paper’s 30th anniversary celebration. It was a great night filled with so many people who’ve contributed to the paper. Check out photos by Jose A. Giralt. It was an awesome event.
The Norwood News has once again continues its five-part series collaboration with BronxNet and WFUV on gang life. Part two of Bronx Connections: The Gang Impact focuses on one former gang member’s quest to steer young people away from gangs. He uses his life story as a teachable moment.
The Norwood News also brings you the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, Health Check, and Out & About. We hope these features make you the smartest person in the Bronx!
So check out the latest edition of the Norwood News. Comments are always welcome. Send them to dcruz@norwoodnews.org. We’re always eager to read them, and sometimes publish them! And don’t forget to vote!
