Latest Edition of the Norwood News is Out!

Dear Fellow Readers,

The latest edition of the Norwood News is out with plenty of community news you can use. We have 20 pages of news and lots to cover.

Our front page cover story focuses on the continuing trend of real estate speculation in Bedford Park. A Norwood News analysis shows an increase of transactions within the tiny section. We also give some brief history of what’s been happening over the last year.

The Norwood News is also excited to announce our 30th anniversary celebration. Save the date for Thursday, November 1. More details are here including our honorees Sally Dunford, Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, and Gary Axelbank. All deserving honorees in their own right! It’s a very special day. Get tickets here.

Inside the cover you’ll find our roundup of the insanity that was the Bronx primary on Sept. 13. To this day we still haven’t heard from state Sen. Jeff Klein who lost his reelection bid to Alessandra Biaggi. Meantime, Christy Rae Ammons has a great profile on a thriving business in Norwood.

The Norwood News also brings you the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, and Out & About. We hope these features make you the smartest person in the Bronx!

So check out the latest edition of the Norwood News. Comments are always welcome. Send them to dcruz@norwoodnews.org. We’re always eager to read them, and sometimes publish them! And don’t forget to vote!

Norwood News

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
