Dear Fellow Readers,
The latest edition of the Norwood News, covering the Bronx, is out and loaded with 20 pages of original news covering the Bronx. In keeping with tradition we begin with page one!
This one focuses two vicious stabbings that have caused great pause in the borough: the killing of 15-year-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz and the near fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old by the Bronx River Parkway. This is apparently the work of the murderous street gang known as the Trinitarios. Find out how many suspects were rounded up for Junior’s killing so far.
Our continuing coverage of Junior’s death is expanded via the Inquiring Photographer and an editorial on why the U.S. Justice Department should get involved in dismantling the gang as it’s done numerous times.
Last edition we had an article showing the upside to DeWitt Clinton High School. This time we have a story showing its tumult with the “restaffing” of teachers at the famed school. The city Department of Education wouldn’t tell us how much, but we at least spoke with one teacher who told us what teachers had to go through. Read Jose A. Giralt’s report on it.
Martika Ornella has an aftermath piece on primary win for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the political newcomer who defeated Congressman Joe Crowley, who was on the path to becoming the next House Speaker. We break down the numbers for you.
As usual, we have the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, Health Check, and Out & About–to help keep you an informed Bronxite!
Lastly, the Norwood News is proud to announce the hiring of a salesperson, Janet Geller, who will help grow our paper with her near 30 years experience covering the paper. Anyone interested in taking out an ad in our fine paper can email her at jgeller@norwoodnews.org.
As usual, send feedback to me at dcruz@norwoodnews.org and share your thoughts on the latest edition of the Norwood News.
See you next time!
