Dear Fellow Readers,
The latest edition of the Norwood News, covering Bronx communities, is out this week! Check out these stories put together by our dedicated interns and freelancers that can get the conversation going. We begin, of course, with page one!
The political season came early this year as a special election impacting Norwood happened on April 24, with Democrat Nathalia Fernandez becoming the interim Assembly Member for the 80th Assembly District. Learn Fernandez’ goals and whether others are gunning for the seat. It will be interesting to see who throws their hat into this seat.
Other stories include the resignation of Community Board 7 chair Adaline Walker-Santiago. Though she swears she’s simply stepping down to focus on other things, political forces appear to be at play. Find out who may have pulled the strings. There also appears to be a bit of politics at play involving a Mitchell-Lama building fighting a loan the state is imposing on them. Read what cooperators of Park Reservoir Houses have to say about that.
This edition also concludes our five-part series dubbed The Bronx Food Fight. The collaboration with WFUV radio and BronxNet TV ends with a profile of the Bronx Salad. The green dish is yet another tool in the arsenal for healthier eating in the Bronx. Our breaking news man David Greene also reports on a massive fire that took out seven stores in the Fordham section. Check out these eye-catching photos.
The Norwood News also brings you the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Health Check, Neighborhood Notes, and Out & About. We hope these features make you the smartest person in the Bronx!
