Dear Fellow Readers,
The latest edition of the Norwood News, spanning the northwest section of the Bronx, is out with its latest edition for 2018! There is tons of news to cover so let’s get right into it!
Our front page story focuses on Bailey Houses, part of the stock of troubling properties owned by NYCHA. The chair of the New York City Council’s public housing committee visited the Kingsbridge complex, finding conditions problematic. Her visit came as the agency’s chair announced her resignation. Read what tenants have to say about the lumbering repair process. The timing will shock you.
We then take you inside the cover and stories focusing on the Kingsbridge National Ice Center’s process. The pre-development phase is still on, and it could be 8 to 10 months before we see anything. That’s according to a letter sent to the Norwood News by someone with knowledge of the progress.
Other stories include The Bronx Food Fight collaborative report involving WFUV radio and BronxNet Television. This week we tackle the subject of healthy eating lessons. Read the story by Natalie Migliore. Other notable stories include the disbanding of the Independent Democratic Conference, a Norwood man’s untimely death, MMCC’s new food pantry, and a nice photo spread of the Spring Egg Hunt that happened at Williamsbridge Oval.
We also have the paper’s regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, Health Check, and Out & About–all aimed at making you the most informed reader in the Bronx.
As usual, you can always get in touch with me to sound off on anything you’ve seen. Send an email to dcruz@norwoodnews.org, and tell me what you think of the paper. We always love constructive criticism.
So take a look at the latest edition of the Norwood News, and keep reading!
Until next time!
