Dear Fellow Readers!
The latest edition of the Norwood News, covering the northwest Bronx, is out with its latest edition for 2018. We welcome you to check out plenty of stories featured in this year’s sixth edition.
We begin, of course, with page one and a story involving a back-and-forth battle between a Norwood resident and a developer building right next door to his house. Hear this ping-pong of a story and why both sides remain at an impasse.
Inside the cover you’ll find the latest on the Kingsbridge National Ice Center, where the founder of the mega-project stopped to reassure residents that he’s fully committed to building the ice center no matter how long it’s taken.
In the pages of the Norwood News you’ll find our two specials once again: Housing Matters, where we look at specific housing issues impacting the city. This time we’re focusing on the city’s community preference policy and why one lawyer thinks it promotes segregation. We then have our second special, The Bronx Food Fight, a collaboration with WFUV Radio and BronxNet Television. This week, reporter Kacie Candela looks at the shortcomings of the federal supplemental nutrition assistance program and why so many recipients are turning to soup kitchens.
We then have stories ranging from the city Transportation Department’s quest to streamline a heavily used section of Mosholu Parkway and why it’s impossible for a local community board to ban a resident. Definitely worth a read.
As usual, we have the regular staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, Health Check, and Out & About–all intended to make you the smartest person in the room.
So check out the latest edition of the Norwood News, and be sure to me some mail at dcruz@norwoodnews.org. We always enjoy hearing from our readers and what they have to say about this great paper.
Until next time!
