The digital edition of the Norwood News is back from production break to bring you our latest edition, with plenty of community news you can use. If you want to grab a hold of the edition, just stop by the 300 local offices, restaurants and stores that carry our award-winning newspaper.
We first take a pause to ask you: Have you noticed a change in the website?!? This past weekend the Norwood News shed its familiar blog-style website for a more upgraded site with mobile capabilities. Yes, it’s mobile. So you can take the Norwood News anywhere you go. Though new features include a slider window and bigger typeface, it will maintain the spirit of the newspaper.
We begin in Bedford Park, where Project Renewal, a not-for-profit well known to the community, is set to build a pair of supportive/affordable housing buildings just along Jerome Avenue. Neighbors are not so concerned with the affordable housing component, but it’s supportive services, which will be offered to mentally ill homeless individuals. The newspaper takes a look at both sides. At another portion of the neighborhood, residents have been hoping authorities can take a closer look at a supportive housing site managed by the controversial Narco Freedom group. Jasmine Gomez spoke to one neighborhood advocate leading the charge to have them close its doors.
Our Be Healthy section focuses on the benefits of mothers breastfeeding newborns, with doctors at Montefiore Medical Center recognized for espousing awareness.
We also have your regular staples of Out & About and Inquiring Photographer with musings on Legionnaires’ disease. So check out the latest edition of the Norwood News, and as usual, share your thoughts with us! Send them to David Cruz at dcruz@norwoodnews.org. Enjoy the paper!
