Dear Fellow Readers!
The year’s last edition of the Norwood News is out, crammed with plenty of Bronx community news you can use.
Before we begin our summary of stories, some breaking news: A Bronx judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Kingsbridge National Ice Center, which one again signals significant delays for a project envisioned as a game changer. We wrote a lengthy piece on the story that you can find here.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming:
Our Page One story focuses on Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj (pronounced jo-nigh), who’s declared a run for New York City Council. Gjonaj held a rally with plenty of fanfare and supporters who believe he has enough experience and dedication to replace the term-limited Councilman Jimmy Vacca. But four others are vying for that same seat, including one opponent who thinks Gjonaj’s declaration can signal an empty Assembly seat for an entire year. Find out why.
Inside the cover, you’ll find an editorial assessing our 2016 predictions and whether they indeed became true (we were accurate or 90 percent of the stories), a tale of woe between landlords and tenants in Norwood, and a story on zip lining thrills coming to the Bronx. Our middle pages feature a photo spread of Christmas events happening throughout the Bronx. Two pages warranted so much joy for the holidays.
The usual staples are here–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, and Out & About to satisfy your intellectual side.
With issue #25 ranking as the last for the year, the Norwood News, featuring plenty of community news, want to wish you a safe and Happy Holiday. As usual, send thoughts to me, David Cruz, at dcruz@norwoodnews.org. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best,
David Cruz
