Latest Edition of the Norwood News Is Out!

Norwood News Vol. 19 No. 15
Hello Faithful Readers,

The month-long edition of the Norwood News is out with plenty of Bronx community news you can use. With our July-August edition, are some interesting stories intended to pique your interest.

We first begin in Bedford Park with a tenants meeting involving Ved Parkash, dubbed the city’s worst landlord. Hear what tenants living in his buildings had to say about conditions, which have drawn the ire of city officials. Also, hear what Mr. Parkash had to say of his buildings.

Moving into the pages of the edition you’ll read up on Mosholu Montefiore Community Center‘s respected executive director, Donald Bluestone, announcing his impending retirement. Read about all of Mr. Bluestone’s concrete accomplishments found on page 5.

We then bring you somewhat of an international story happening in Norwood–a man’s fight with a hospital he’s accused of killing his mother. Read Jose Cotto’s story and the great lengths he’s taken to seek justice for his mother.

Of course, the Norwood News won’t be the same without your neighborhood staples–Inquiring Photographer, Neighborhood Notes, and Out & About, all featured in this month-long edition.

For now, the paper enters a sleep mode until August 18 when we release a special Neighborhoods Edition focusing on several Bronx nabes. Check it out.

Until then, send thoughts, comments, complaints to me, David Cruz, at dcruz@norwoodnews.org.

Thanks!

Norwood News

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
