Latest Edition of the Norwood News Is Out!

Norwood News Vol. 29 No. 10

Dear Loyal Readers,

The latest edition of the Norwood News, covering all things northwest Bronx, is out with plenty of community news you can use.

We begin, as always, on page 1 with an in-depth story on the 52nd Precinct’s newest commanding officer, Deputy Inspector Peter Fiorillo, who succeeds Inspector Nilda Hofmann. Read where Inspector Hofmann landed (it’s a very interesting place), and her thoughts on the borough she had once called home.

Inside the cover you’ll read results on participatory budgeting, politics in the Bronx, and the latest in the Kingsbridge Armory saga.

We’ll also bring you Bronx Youth Heard, the bi-annual special edition newspaper within a newspaper written by teens, for teens. Check out the stories from this talented group of Bronx high school students who brought great perspective to the stories they’ve crafted.

We also have the usual staples–Neighborhood Notes, Out & About, and Inquiring Photographer–to get you thinking or planning out your week.

So take a look at the latest edition. As always, I’m always open to thoughts/criticism/general comments about the paper, so email me at dcruz@norwoodnews.org. Until next edition!

Norwood News

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
