Latest Edition of the Norwood News Is Out

Norwood News Vol. 29 No. 9

Hello Loyal Readers!

The ninth edition of the Norwood News, covering community news you can use, is out, hitting over 300 locations throughout Norwood and its surrounding neighborhoods.

Of course, we begin in Norwood, at the enormous Tracey Towers. There, residents are supporting a proposal to review the books of its management company’s $40 million renovation. Read why the tenants association are backing an audit proposal.

We then recap a meeting involving Norwood’s community stakeholders and the Bangladeshi community. Aldo Perez organized the meeting. Learn why he believes crimes against Bangladeshis and Muslims are under-reported.

There’s also a piece on the story that keeps on giving–the Kingsbridge Armory. Learn about a deal the city offered developers of the Kingsbridge National Ice Center, and why developers rejected it.

We also have the Norwood News’ staples–Inquiring Photographer (a very meta question on news coverage in the borough), Neighborhood Notes and Out & About, featuring some very unique cultural listings.

So take a look at the latest edition, share them with your friends, family, and email your thoughts about the paper to dcruz@norwoodnews.org.

Thanks very much!

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
