The Norwood News is out with its latest edition, bringing you plenty of Bronx community news you can use.
We begin with what was a late-breaking story into our newsroom: developers of the Kingsbridge National Ice Center (KNIC) taking the city to court over its delay of a lease developers say belongs to them. Read what KNIC is alleging in the 35-page complaint filed in Bronx Supreme Court. The development seriously endangers the project, which could force the community, elected officials and the city to start all over.
Next, an editorial that shows our cards and respect for U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who keynote spoke at the latest New York Press Association Better Newspaper Contest (the Norwood News won three prizes). Find out why should journeymen and women keep the “wolves at bay” and learn why he thinks litigation and newsgathering share the same goal. Definitely worth a read.
We then focus on local affairs with a fantastic event Monroe College hosts yearly, which focuses on empowering teen boys to become men. Find out what some of the day’s mentors spoke on the value of being a responsible man. At Bainbridge Nursing Home, learn how the staff brought back a patient from the near brink of death.
National politics in the Bronx was the order of these last two weeks. Check out a double-page spread on where candidates for the Democratic and Republican presidential race stopped by for some dogged campaigning.
As usual, we have the regular staples—Out & About for all your cultural needs, Neighborhood Notes with a service listing filled with improvements for your life, and Inquiring Photographer.
