Three people were transported to local hospitals following a car crash in Kingsbridge Heights on Friday, April 25, emergency services said. The NYPD said the incident occurred in front of 2745 Reservoir Avenue at 12.15 p.m.

A police spokesperson said that upon arrival of officers from the 50th Precinct at the scene, a 69-year-old male driver of a vehicle (Vehicle #2) reported that he was traveling southbound on Reservoir Avenue at West 195th Street when a second vehicle (Vehicle #1) attempted to pass him and hit his mirror. The spokesperson said the driver of Vehicle #2 said this action startled him and he lost control of his vehicle.

“The 30-year-old driver of Vehicle #1 states that he was avoiding being hit by Vehicle #2 when he was merging into Vehicle #1’s lane, to avoid a double parked car,” the police spokesperson said. “When he tried to pass him to get to a safe point in the road, he hit Vehicle #2’s mirror, and [the] driver of Vehicle #2 turned into him.”

Police said both drivers were removed to hospital for injuries to the neck and back.

Separately, the FDNY said they received a call at 12.18 for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck at West 195th Street and Reservoir Avenue and one person was later transported to NY Presbyterian – Allen Pavillion hospital. Their condition was unknown.

With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigations, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
