The nonprofit, Theory 9 Inc. held a fun-filled 5th Annual Back-to-School giveaway on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Fort #4 Playground at 2895 Reservoir Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights.
The community celebration was held in conjunction with a number of community partners including various City agencies and elected officials.
Among them were District 14 Council Member Pierina Sanchez, State Sen. Robert Jackson (S.D. 31), Assembly Member George Alvarez (A.D. 78), Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33), Boost Mobile, CPRF Charity, NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, and NYC Department of Transportation.
At the event, a variety of fun activities for families and children were offered, including face painting, games, bounce houses, and free haircuts.
Attendees also enjoyed raffles, live entertainment, and more. Members of the NYPD were also present on the day and were seen playing basketball and interacting with the youngsters.
Additionally, book bags and essential school supplies were distributed to ensure that every child was prepared for the beginning of the school year.
“We are thrilled to bring together local leaders, community partners, and residents for this special event,” said Theory 9 Inc. founder Shakir Seagers. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the start of the school year and support our students and families.”
