The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached surveillance video and photo who is sought for questioning regarding a robbery that occurred in Kingsbridge Heights.
Police said that on Friday, Jan. 6, at 11.06 a.m., in front of 229 Kingsbridge Road, a 26-year-old female victim was walking on the street when a person unknown to her approached her from behind and forcibly grabbed her purse.
An NYPD spokesperson said, “At that moment, the purse opened up and $1,850 cash fell onto the ground.” The spokesperson said the thief then picked up the money as the victim tried to stop him. “The individual pushed the victim to the ground and fled on foot to parts unknown,” the spokesperson added.
According to police, the victim sustained minor lacerations to her knees. EMS responded to the scene, and the victim was treated and released.
Police said the suspect is described as an adult male who has a dark complexion and a thin build. They said he was last seen wearing blue jeans, black and red sneakers, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a red and white hooded jacket.
