The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached video and photo who is sought regarding a non-fatal shooting involving two young men in their 20s in Wakefield.
A police spokesperson said that on Sunday, July 10, at around 00.59 a.m., at the northeast corner of White Plains Road and East 240th Street, a 26-year-old male victim (Victim 1) observed his male companion (Victim 2) getting involved in a physical confrontation with an unknown individual.
The NYPD official said Victim 1 tried to intervene at which point, the perpetrator brandished a firearm and shot him in the abdomen. Victim 2 ran away from scene as the perpetrator was firing multiple shots. He struck Victim 2, a 21-year-old man, in the buttocks. The perpetrator then fled the location to parts unknown.
Police said Victim 1 went to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, via private means, where he was treated and released. They said EMS responded to the location, and transported Victim 2 to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was also treated and released.
According to police, the shooter is described as male, has a medium build, a mustache and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, a baseball cap, dark-colored pants, a sports jersey, and black and white sneakers.
Police added, “The individual was observed at the Last Stop Bar, located at 4609 White Plains Road, before the incident took place.” A surveillance video and photo of the suspect is attached.
