On Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at approximately 9.24 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot opposite 124 Eames Place, in Kingsbridge Heights in the 50th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. There were no initial arrests and the investigation remained ongoing. The deceased was identified as Christopher Pierce, 34, of Webb Avenue, The Bronx.
On Sept. 9, 2018, the NYPD sought the public’s assistance in identifying the individual seen in the attached video and photograph in connection with the homicide investigation. The suspect was described as male, Hispanic and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater, black pants and black sneakers.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, two individuals were arrested on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the 50th precinct. Jonathan Colon, 20, of Wheeler Avenue, The Bronx and Julio Ozuna, 19, of Morrison Avenue, The Bronx were charged with 2nd degree murder.
The investigation remained ongoing.
Pursuant to that ongoing investigation, it was reported by police on March 11, 2021 that Nazeem Francis, 21, of Mayda Road, Queens was arrested and also charged with murder in the 2nd degree on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 3 p.m., in the 50th precinct.
Norwood News has reached out to the Bronx District Attorney’s office for an update on the status of the legal cases involving Colon and Ozuna, and will update this story upon receipt of a response.
