A woman has been hit with a DWI charge following a collision in Kingsbridge over the weekend.

The FDNY said on Friday, May 6, at 10.52 p.m., emergency units responded to W 230th Street and The Major Deegan Expressway following reports of a motor vehicle accident. Three patients were transported to Harlem Hospital and Jacobi Medical Center. Their genders/ages/conditions were unavailable. We asked for confirmation of how many vehicles were involved in the collision and police later confirmed there were two.

A traffic alert issued by New York State on Friday night at around 11.33 p.m. referred to an overturned vehicle on the southbound lane of the Major Deegan Expressway at Van Cortlandt Park, blocking the center and right lanes for a duration. We asked the traffic alert service if the alert related to this accident or a different one and will update this story upon receipt of feedback.

Meanwhile, the NYPD confirmed that a 21-year-old woman, Lizmary Rodriguez, of 50 White Street, Tarrytown NY, was charged with driving while intoxicated in relation to the incident.

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, May 7, at approximately 8.14 p.m., police confirmed they responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian who had been struck in the vicinity of East Tremont Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue in Throggs Neck, located in the 45th precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 76-year-old man with minor external injuries. EMS responded and transported the aided man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased as a result of internal injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined that he had been operating a battery-powered wheelchair and attempting to cross East Tremont Avenue from the east side to the west side when he was struck by a 2005 gray Toyota Sienna driven by a 25-year-old woman. The driver remained at the scene and police said there doesn’t appear to be any criminality at this time. The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD highway district collision investigation squad. The deceased has been identified as John Dellacava, 72, of Davis Avenue in Throggs Neck.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
