Julian Sepulveda announced on Friday, Nov. 13, that he will be suspending his campaign for the 15th District City Council seat and has endorsed Elisa Crespo.
In a video shared to Twitter, Sepulveda said, “Supporting Elisa was an easy decision. She is a Bronxite and a Latina, who was raised by a working-class mother. Her lived experience is rooted in the complex struggles that many in our community live day-to-day.”
Sepulveda continued, “Her campaign is an opportunity to make history by building a movement that empowers the Latinx community while building LGBTQ power in the Bronx. I know that she will fight for clean, safe streets, and affordable housing. As progressives and as Puerto Ricans, we’ll work together to build a new vision for representation in our district and across the city. It’s my honor to endorse Elisa today and join her people-powered movement.”
Today, I’m announcing the suspension of my campaign. While this was a tough decision, I’m excited to endorse @elisacresponyc’s historic candidacy and I look forward to working hard to get her elected! pic.twitter.com/QRimiR603i

Crespo responded to the endorsement by re-tweeting Sepulveda’s announcement, adding, “It’s an honor to have gained Julian’s support, and I am inspired by his selflessness and dedication to our community. His actions are a testament to the growth and collaboration that we seek to bring to the Bronx’s 15th Council District, and I am excited to build this movement with his help.”
She added, “Together, we will create a working-class coalition, fight to bring Jobs and Justice to our community, and preserve the human dignity that all our neighbors deserve.”
Elisa Crespo announced her campaign to run in the 15th City Council race in January of this year, and has since garnered endorsements from Council Members Helen Rosenthal and Jimmy Van Bramer, District Leaders Melissa Sklarz, John Blasco, and Samy Nemir-Olivares, the Victory Fund, Trans United, and the Northwest Bronx Democrats.
The other remaining candidates in the race, other than Crespo, include Bronx CB7 District Manager, Ischia Bravo, tenant lawyer, Oswald Feliz, of the Northwest Bronx Democrats for Change, Latchmi Gopal of the Democratic Socialists of America, Bronx CB6 District Manager, John Sanchez, and Altagracia E. Soldevilla. Kenny Agosto also declared in September that he has joined the race, though he is not yet listed in the latest, quarterly filing on the New York City Campaign Finance Board.
Who is this person? I’ve lived in West Farms my whole life and never saw her in the community ever.
