If you are reading this and looking for a job, get down to the Bronx Library Center on Kingsbridge Road, just north of Fordham Road, and check out the job fair State Senator Gustavo Rivera is hosting today. Just heard from Conchita Cruz, Rivera’s chief of staff. She told me there are about 100 people there now and that employers at the fair are looking to fill around 200 jobs today. It ends at 1:30 p.m.
Rivera and Assemblyman Nelson Castro will be at the fair from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Here are some of the employers presenting: Aflac, Albert Einstein, Best Choice Home Healthcare, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Compassionate Care Hospice, Corinthian Medical IPA, FEDEX, Food Bank, HHH Continuum of Care, Home Depot, Jewish Home Lifecare, MTA- Metro North Railroad, United Healthcare Community Plan, SoBRO, Morton Williams, ASA College, US Customs and Border Patrol, New York Life, NEW- Non Traditional Employment for Women, Sears, St. Barnabas Hospital and the Wyndham Garden Hotel.
Hello,
The Job Fair was last Friday and today is Monday. Your kinda late on reporting this.
The job fair was very disappointing because half of the companies did not show up and they claim they was going to take resume and give applicants a small one on one interview.
Well, It did not happen. All they did was give out cards and told people to log on to different website and e-mail your resume.
Especially the Indian lady who is in charge of the Kingsbridge library. She was very rude to all and did not want to help out any minorities when they ask her questions on how to apply for jobs. She went out her way to show all the white and indian people how to apply. What a shame that we don’t have anyone working to help the true minorities who live in the area especially at “our” neighborhood library. What a joke
