A 20-year-old man from Wakefield has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in January 2020 in the Jerome Park section of the Bronx.
Police reported that on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at around 9.52 p.m., on the corner of Grand Concourse and 202nd Street, in Jerome Park, a 25-year-old male victim was approached by an unidentified man who demanded property from the victim. The victim refused, and the suspect subsequently produced a firearm and proceeded to shoot the victim in the back, before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
The victim was removed to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious but stable condition.
Following the incident, the NYPD had asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the man seen in the attached photos who was sought for questioning in connection with the robbery, which took place in the 52nd precinct. Additional photos and a video were released on Jan. 21, 2020.
On Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, pursuant to the ongoing investigation, police confirmed that Nasheed Charles, 20, from the Wakefield section of the Bronx, was arrested earlier that day and was charged with attempted murder, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
A person who is arrested is presumed innocent, unless and until convicted in a court of law.
