The Offices of the NYS Inspector General published its latest investigative report on Friday, Aug. 19, as well as 21 previously non-public letters arising from investigations undertaken by the office. The letters, which were sent to public officials and agencies regarding allegations of misconduct or wrongdoing, provide information on the ultimate investigative findings by the inspector general.

According to the office, the published documents constitute the remainder of such investigative letters issued in 2013, and continues what was described by the offices as the inspector general’s commitment to providing all such historical letters on a year-by-year basis.

“Today’s new report and previously unpublished historical letters bear out this office’s commitment to thorough investigations and transparent disclosure to the public of their conclusions” said Inspector General Lucy Lang. “My thanks to our staff, and all the agency and law enforcement partners who share that commitment.”

Some of the letters included issues such as the misuse of State resources for tax preparation business, forgery of an official document at the Department of Labor, misuse of State resources for property management business, employee theft of food stamp benefits, an employee who drove while intoxicated with a firearm, allegations against a fire safety instructor, and inappropriate images on an employee computer.

Others included the misuse of State resources for a travel agency business, an investigation into the handling of HIPPA information, and one details that a New York State Police Trooper on former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s security detail had a two-month long romantic relationship with one of the former governor’s daughters that had gone unreported until 2020.
