Inquiring Photographer: Topsy-Turvy Temps

This week we asked readers their thoughts on the dramatic changes to the weather as well as plans for the unofficial start of summer.

I don’t know, you just have to dress for this crazy weather, that’s the best way to deal with it. I think we’re going to get a very hot summer. I’m a music artist, so I’ll be working on my music a lot over the summer and I’ll make a record. Other than that, the summer is all about the family.

I don’t even want to talk about it. Yesterday it was mad hot, but Friday it’s supposed to rain and the rest of the weekend it’s going to be hot and muggy. Yes, we’re done with the winter. What I plan to do this summer is go out and have fun, cruise with my dog and take him outside for a bit, and ride my motorcycle; that’s it. I’ll go to City Island or Orchard Beach and maybe have some lobster and some fruit and vegetables, something good.

I never trusted the weatherman, but my mistrust has grown deeper and more pervasive. It’s climate change, climate change, climate change. Human cause by fossil fuels. I would not be surprised if it snowed again this year. Me? I will be sitting in an air-conditioned room, that’s about it.

Yes, it’s been cold but I didn’t really wear a winter jacket. I just went to school with a sweater. Yes, this weather is crazy, because it’s spring. I plan to go to California and I’m going to see my cousins and visit SeaWorld, because it’s my birthday.

Yes, it’s definitely been crazy; the temperature going up and down and it makes me feel sick, the extreme changes like that. I also heard that this was going to be the mildest heat we’re going to have because apparently it’s supposed to get way hotter in the summertime. We’re done with the snow, I’m sure of that. The weather forecasters do a pretty good job. Yes, I’m actually getting my exoteric license. Basically, it’s like a skin nurse, so I’m going to be in school this whole summer. On the weekends I’ll go to parties and try and have as good a time as I can. Definitely, I’ll be going to the beach. Mercy Atiemo, Kingsbridge

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
