A new year, a new set of resolutions. This week, the Norwood News interviewed several neighbors with hopes, plans and resolutions for 2014.

SAMSUNG1)  The first would be to stay healthy, and the second is to get ready for med school. I’d also like to better cultivate relationships with family.
–Aaron Apafio

SAMSUNG2) I hope it’s going to be a good New Year and that we start making more money. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope the new mayor does a good job and I hope they reduce the taxes so things can improve.

–Assad Riham

SAMSUNG3) To be a better person in general and I hope that everyone comes home from war, safe and sound, to their families who are waiting.
–Eva Rodriguez

SAMSUNG4) I have no resolutions, but my hopes for the New Year is just to get a good job. I hope the new mayor takes better care of the Bronx instead of just focusing on downtown Manhattan.
–Ralph Gil

SAMSUNG5) Yes, to stop smoking and to lose weight. Hopes for the Bronx… I live on Clinton Avenue and they’re doing a lot of holdups over there. I’ve been there since I was seven years old. There’s a lot of bad stuff going on and I’d like it to stop.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. As you navigate this website, please let us know if you discover any glitches or if you have any suggestions. We’d love to hear from you.
