An affordable housing lottery has launched for units at 1728 Townsend Avenue in the Mount Hope section of The Bronx. The six-story residential building was designed by Badaly Architects and yields 22 units, as reported by YIMBY.
Available on NYC Housing Connect are seven units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $48,000 to $139,620.
Units will have smart controls for heating/cooling and name-brand appliances and finishes. Amenities include a garage, bike storage lockers, package lockers, a shared laundry room, and security cameras.
At 130 percent of the AMI, there are three studios with a monthly rent of $1,400, for incomes ranging from $48,000 to $124,150, and four one-bedroom apartments with a monthly rent of $1,600 for incomes ranging from $54,858 to $139,620.
Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments, and applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than July 2, 2021.
Tenants are responsible for electricity, including electric stove, heat and hot water. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to MGNY Consulting, c/o 1728 Townsend Avenue Apartments, 18 Bridge St, Suite 2D, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Do not apply online and by mail. Choose one option only.
This building is anticipated to receive a tax exemption through the 421a tax incentive program of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
