Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson joined the Supreme Court of Bronx County to host the annual 9/11 Day of Remembrance ceremony in the Rotunda of the Bronx County Building on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
The two-hour tribute included spoken word and other performances and was emceed by the founder and executive director of Riverdale Children’s Theater, Derek Woods, who grew up in Norwood.
Theresa Noel, who was seen holding a photo of her late son, Terrence Noel, who died on 9/11, was just one Bronxite, who along with her husband, Michael Noel, Sr., attended the event to remember loved ones lost.
Terrence Noel, a switch operations technician with General Telecom from the Parkchester section of The Bronx, was just 22 years old when he was killed at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Among the officials in attendance at the event, during which the NYPD Brass band performed, were New York State Assembly Member Chantal Jackson (A.D. 79), Bronx Civil Court Judge Matthew Raso, and NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
One hundred and forty-four Bronxites died on the day the world changed forever were fondly recalled and honored.
Other memorials were also held around the borough at various locations to mark the anniversary. Read our related story on 9/11 here.
