The latest findings by the New York State Department of Health show the prevalence of obesity in The Bronx is highest when compared to other boroughs. The two existing bariatric ambulances are already stationed in the Fort Totten section of Queens, and in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.

According to the FDNY, both ambulances currently service an average of 1,000 residents citywide per year. The funding of $350,000 was a joint allocation between the Bronx borough president and Ayala, who represents parts of northern Manhattan and the South Bronx.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights.
