JGH-BID Fall Festival 

The Jerome-Gun Hill BID presents its 16th Annual Fall Festival, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., along Jerome Avenue between Mosholu Parkway and Gun Hill Road. Events include musical performers, hula hoops, jump rope, caricatures, face painting, food, free health screenings and giveaways. No rain date. For more information, call (718) 324-4946. 

Onstage
Lehman College’s Center for the Performing Arts, 250 Bedford Pk. Blvd. W., presents the following events: Santo Domingo Tiene Salsa, featuring a number of known performers playing salsa music, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. (tickets are $50 to $75; $125/VIP includes reception with food and drinks at 6:30 p.m. and seating; info: (718) 960-8833); and Lehman String Quartet, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Music Building’s Recital Hall, featuring classical music performed by faculty and staff from Lehman and Celia Cruz Bronx H.S. of Music (free; donations are welcome; info: (718) 960-8247).

The Amalgamated Nursery School is hosting their Fall festival at Train Park, corner of Orloff Avenue and Gale Place, on Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family-friendly event will include a costume parade that begins at 10:45 a.m. to begin the festival. Pumpkin decorations, a maze, tattoo parlor and cookie decorating are some of the activities lined up. There is a $10 children’s activity fee. For more information, call (718) 5543-8688.

Bedford Park Congregational Church, 311 E. 201st Street (at Bainbridge Avenue) presents its annual fun fair and flea market, Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events include raffles and lunch. The Bronx Tourism Council is holding Tour de Bronx, free cycling event, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Riders can select either 25 or 40 miles to explore Bronx neighborhoods, starting at 161st Street at the Grand Concourse and ending at the NY Botanical Garden for yoga, music and food. The Bronx Library Center will host its 2nd Annual Indie Author Day on Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at E. 310 Kingsbridge Rd. Authors Annette Libeskind Berkovits, Carmen D. Lucca, Rebecca Brooks and Anne Born discussing their books.

Wave Hill, a Bronx oasis at 675 W. 252nd St. in Riverdale, offers Family Art Projects: October Treasures, to decorate a recycled box or metal tin with buttons, small stones and woodland findings, Oct. 14 and 15; and Leaf Crowns and Fairy Houses, to enjoy fairy stories by storyteller playing harp, followed by creating a teeny dwelling out of sticks, leaves, moss and bark, culminating in performance at 11 a.m. and noon by guitarist/singer and bagpiper in concert of Irish jigs, reels and songs including fairy parade, Oct. 21 and 22; both in the WH House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Grounds admission is free until noon Saturdays and Tuesdays all year. The Bronx County Historical Society presents the following events: special Archtober Tour of the Valentine-Varian House, 3266 Bainbridge Ave. (208th Street), Oct. 27 from noon to 1:30 p.m. to see the current exhibitions; and Open House NY, free admission to the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage (Grand Concourse at Kingsbridge Road) and the Museum of Bronx History/Valentine-Varian House; both Oct. 14 and 15. Halloween Events
The Williamsbridge Oval presents the following free events: Haunted House (for ages 10+), to be spooked by ghosts, zombies and creatures, Oct. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Pumpkin Party (to age 12 years), to enjoy arts and crafts, carnival games, prizes, and candy, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information, call (718) 543-8672.

The New York Botanical Garden presents Scarecrows and Pumpkins, through Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden. Events include guided activities featuring a puppet playhouse and weekends include interactive demonstrations featuring bats, reptiles, and other creepy creatures. For more information, call 9718) 817-8700. The group will also host the Great Pumpkin Weekend on Oct. 21 & 22, where pumpkin growers will be on hand for Q&A sessions and photo ops. The event will be on display through Oct. 31.

The Bronx Library Center, 310 E.
