Fordham Manor: Woman Sought in University Avenue Stabbing

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a woman who is wanted for questioning in connection to the stabbing of a 43-year-old man outside a bodega on University Avenue in Fordham Manor.

 

According to police spokeswoman, Detective Denise Moroney, the incident occurred at 1:59 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, outside Jony Food Corp, located at 2487 University Avenue at the corner of West 190th Street.

 

Moroney said, “Police responded to a 911 call of an assault. Upon arrival, officers were informed by a 43-year-old male victim he was stabbed in the abdomen by an unidentified individual, after a verbal dispute.”

 

Moroney added that the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction after the incident.

The unnamed victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

 

The NYPD didn’t say what circumstances gave rise to the verbal dispute. We asked if they had any more information in this regard and they said they did not. Norwood News also called a couple of businesses at the location in question to ask if anyone knew the victim or suspect but we did not receive any positive responses.

 

Police continue to search for the suspect, described as a 40-year-old woman with a light complexion, blonde hair, blue eyes and who was wearing a blue shirt and black pants.
