Fordham Manor: Two Injured in Jerome Avenue Crash

Two people were injured in the Fordham Manor neighborhood in an early morning crash when a vehicle struck a pillar of the elevated subway line along Jerome Avenue, City officials said.

 

According to an FDNY/EMS spokesperson, the crash was reported at 3:52 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, outside St. James Park on Jerome Avenue, between East 190th Street and East 192nd Street.

Both the NYPD and FDNY/EMS said that two victims were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in an unknown condition.

 

At the scene of the crash, a half dozen MTA workers were seen examining the train pillar that was struck by the vehicle. Of the impact of the crash to the elevated train tracks, Meghan Keegan of the MTA told Norwood News, “There was no damage as a result of this incident and no impact to [the subway] service.”

The NYPD investigates any criminal aspects of collision investigations while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
