UPDATE Fordham Manor: Missing 30-Year-Old Man Found Deceased

The NYPD has confirmed that the 30-year-old man who was reported missing on Thursday Oct. 21 from Fordham Manor has been found deceased inside Highbridge Park on West 167th Street and Edgecombe Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.

 

The NYPD had sought the public’s assistance in locating Hancy Rodriguez of 2630 Kingsbridge Terrace in Fordham Manor, who had last been seen on Thursday, Oct. 21, at approximately 6 a.m., inside his home. He was described as a 30-year-old man, Hispanic, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighed approximately 160 pounds.

 

Friends and colleagues of Rodriguez had been sharing posts and flyers on social media in recent days, highlighting that the 30-year-old was missing and appealing for help finding him. On Friday, Oct. 22, one Facebook user accompanied a post about his disappearance with a note, writing, “From a trusted colleague whose brother is sadly missing and may need medical attention.”

 

On Oct. 23, Melissa Peralta also wrote on Facebook, “My brother-in-law, Hancy Rodriguez (also goes by Hancy Martinez), has been missing for 48 hours. He is about 5’8 and 170 pounds. I’ve included last known footage of him leaving his home in the Bronx. If you have any information as to where he may be, or believe you may have spotted him, please contact me directly at 917-945-2435. Thank you. #findhancy

 

Facebook user, Dr Esmeldy Rosario, posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Oct. 26, “We reiterate our most sincere condolences to Dr. Candida Martinez who is the mother of Hancy Rodriguez. God has received him in his merciful arms and comforts him and the whole family in light of such an irreparable loss. Rest in Peace.”

 

Another user, Austria Nereyda, posted details of Rodriguez’s funeral on Tuesday, confirming it would be held Thursday, Oct. 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverdale Funeral Home, located at 5044 Broadway, New York, NY 10034. Nereyda added that mass would be held Friday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angel’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 2860 Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx, NY 10468.

 

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
