NYC Department of Housing, Preservation & Development (HPD) recently launched a housing lottery described as affordable for units at 368-372 East 194th Street, one 5-story, ten-unit building and one five-story, eight-unit residential building in the Fordham Manor section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY.
Designed by Pirooz Soltanizadeh’s Royal Engineering and developed by Chee Wong’s TNE Buildings, the structures yield 18 residential units. Available on NYC Housing Connect, HPD’s online portal, are seven units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $110,880 to $218,010.
Amenities include pet-friendly policies and a shared laundry room. Tenants are responsible for electricity.
At 130 percent of the AMI, there are six one-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $3,234 for residents on incomes ranging from $110,880 to $181,740, and one two-bedroom unit with a monthly rent of $3,811 for those on incomes ranging from $130,663 to $218,010.
Meanwhile according to the latest profile of Bronx Community District 7 compiled by NYC Department of Cty Planning, which incorporates Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham, Jerome Park, Kingsbridge Heights, and University Heights, based on the 2010 census (no info yet available on income for the 2020 census), close to a third (30.8%) of residents living in Bronx Community District 7 have incomes below the NYC.gov poverty threshold.
According to HPD, prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments and applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than Oct. 16.
