One person was injured following a fire last month on Morris Avenue in Fordham Manor, officials from the fire department said.

FDNY officials said firefighters were called to respond to a report of a fire on the third floor of an occupied, multiple dwelling at 2690 Morris Avenue, between East Kingsbridge Road and East 196th Street in Fordham Manor on June 1, at 7.59 p.m.

They said 12 units, comprising 60 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene, and there was one minor civilian injury. They said the fire was brought under control at 8.36 p.m. and the cause is under investigation by FDNY fire marshals.

An official from the Red Cross of Greater New York said, “After the fire on Morris Avenue in the Bronx on June 1, the American Red Cross has registered one family (two adults, three children) for emergency assistance, including temporary lodging and financial assistance.”

The official added that any residents affected by the fire who need help with their recovery and have not already connected with the Red Cross should call 877-RED CROSS (877-733-2767).

As reported, a fire that broke out inside a popular University Heights deli and spread to an adjacent 99 Cents store on Sunday, June 23, took firefighters more than 90 minutes to extinguish, FDNY officials said. The fire caused a lot of damage to the two businesses, leaving a shell of the one-story structure remaining.
