Fordham Manor: Elderly Man Found Dead inside Home

Firefighters responding to a 911 call on Wednesday, Feb. 28, discovered the body of an elderly man inside a private home in Fordham Manor who reportedly showed signs of electrical burns. He could not be resuscitated according to fire officials.

 

An FDNY spokesperson said firefighters and paramedics were called to a private home at 373 East 194th Street at Decatur Avenue on the day in question at 9:45 a.m. The spokesperson told Norwood News the department received a report of a medical emergency at the location and that units reported that a patient was deceased and appeared to have electrical burns. The spokesperson added that there was “no transport” by EMS.

 

Meanwhile, an NYPD spokesperson said, “On Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at approximately 9:32 a.m., an 81-year-old male was found unconscious and unresponsive inside of 373 East 194 Street by FDNY, after a neighbor called in a wellness check. EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased.” The spokesperson added that no criminality was suspected.

 

The victim was later identified by police as Cipriano Delgado, 81, of 373 East 194th Street. Norwood News asked what the victim’s cause of death was and if it was intentional or accidental. The NYPD had not responded as of press date.
