The NYPD said the department has made an arrest in the fatal shooting in Fordham Manor of 26-year-old Norwood resident, Angel “Pookie” Cuasant, on Dec. 18, 2022.
An NYPD spokesperson said on Wednesday, April 5, that Andres Latorre, 37, from East 158th Street in the Melrose section of The Bronx was arrested, and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
As reported, police said officers responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot inside 2650 Briggs Avenue in Fordham Manor on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 11.13 a.m.
“Upon arrival, they discovered a 26-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body,” a police spokesperson said.
“EMS transported the male to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson initially said there were no arrests or suspects at the time and the investigation was ongoing. Police later said the victim was identified as Cuasant of Decatur Avenue in Norwood.
The incident took place in the vicinity of a Deli & Grocery, which was cordoned off by police while they carried out their investigation. No other injuries were reported and no description of a suspect was initially made available.

Norwood News later reported how Cuasant’s mother had been seeking answers as to why her son had reportedly been shot 17 shots.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
