Police and fire officials have confirmed that an unidentified male was struck and killed by a subway train at the East 182nd Street Subway Station in Fordham Heights, which serves the B /D train.

According to a police spokesperson, the victim was struck by a southbound D Train at 4.29 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. They said officers from the 46th Precinct and Transit District 11, as well as FDNY and EMS personnel, converged at the scene.

The spokesperson told Norwood News, “Officers responded to the scene and located a male underneath the train with serious injuries. FDNY and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.”

The spokesperson concluded, “A preliminary investigation determined that the male was walking on the tracks inside the tunnel near the East 182nd Street Subway Station when he was struck by a D train.” The Office of the City’s Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The identity of the victim is pending proper family notification.

A video clip circulating on social media in recent days shows a man walking / running along a subway track towards a tunnel inside what appears to be a New York City subway station while shouting incoherently. It’s not immediately obvious which station the man is in or if the video relates to this particular incident.
