Police have launched a murder investigation following the killing of a 62-year-old man in Fordham Heights in May. One 49-year-old man has been arrested on assault and other charges in connection with the incident.
As reported, and according to the NYPD, on Sunday, May 21, at 8.50 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been assaulted at 2200 Grand Concourse. “Upon arrival, [an] officer observed [a] 62-year-old male with trauma to the head,” a spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to BronxCare Health System, where he was pronounced deceased on Monday, June 5, 2023.”
The deceased has been identified as Jose Morillo, of Valentine Avenue in the Mt. Hope section of the borough.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said Arkym Davis, 49, of Grand Concourse in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx, was arrested in connection with the incident. They said he was charged on Saturday, May 27, at 12.55 p.m. in the 46th Precinct with assault
aggravated harassment, and harassment.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
The investigation remains ongoing.
