Fordham Heights: Police Appeal for Help Identifying Man Sought in Subway Phone Robbery Pattern

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the person seen in the attached photos and video who they say is wanted in connection with a robbery pattern identified at the 182nd-183rd Street subway station in Fordham Heights.

 


Police said the first incident took place on Tuesday, June 4, at around 11 a.m., when the victim, a 67-year-old woman, was waiting on the southbound platform of the 182nd-183rd Street subway station, which serves the B and D trains, when she was approached by a person unknown to her who attempted to snatch her phone. “The victim yelled and the individual fled without the victim’s property,” police said. “There were no injuries reported during this incident.”

Police said the second incident also took place on Tuesday, June 4, at around 1.30 p.m., when the victim, a 34-year-old man, was sitting on the southbound platform of, again, the 182nd-183rd Street subway station, serving the B and D trains, and was approached by a person unknown to him who snatched his phone. “The individual was last seen fleeing southbound on Webster Avenue on foot,” police said. “There were no injuries reported during this incident.”

 

Police said the suspect is described as male, is estimated to be 6 feet, 2 inches tall, has a dark complexion, a slim build, and was last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt with a red cross on the back, white pants with a black stripe, and light-colored sneakers.
