A 46-year-old Bronx man from Fordham Heights has been arrested for an alleged hate crime and assault in Manhattan on March 1, police said.
The NYPD had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photo, who they said was wanted in connection to a hate crime assault that occurred in Midtown Manhattan.
It was reported to police said that on Friday, March 1, at around 11.03 p.m., while on an northbound A train approaching the 34th Street / Penn subway station, a 27-year-old male victim was approached by another male who made anti-LGBTQIA+ comments directed at the victim.
They said the person then slashed the victim using a box cutter, and EMS later transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition. Police said the assailant remained on the train.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said that on March 5, they arrested Milton Hamlin of 2395 Grand Concourse, The Bronx on March 5 at 8.45 a.m. in the 14th Precinct in Manhattan.
Hamlin has been charged with an assault hate crime, assault, a menacing hate crime, and menacing. He is deemed innoncent unless and until found guilty in a court of law.
