A 62-year-old man has been hospitalized following a daylight shooting in Fordham Heights on Friday, June 16.
An NYPD spokesperson said, “At 16.50 hours, at 2386 Ryer Avenue, a male…he was shot once in the knee.” The address is the location of Ryer Housing Development, and is located between East 187th Street and East 184th, one block from the Grand Concourse, according to Google Maps.
The spokesperson added that the victim, whose age was confirmed as 62, was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
“Perpetrators fled on foot southbound on Ryre Avenue,” the spokesperson added. Asked if there was a motive at this point, the spokesperson said it was too soon to say.
Norwood News tried unsuccessfully to reach Ryer Housing Development for comment on the shooting, and there was no option to leave a phone message.
According to New York State Education Department, Ryer Avenue Housing Development Fund Corporation, with an address at 2386 Ryer Avenue, provides various services, including licensed master social work, licensed marriage and family therapy, licensed psychoanalysis, licensed clinical social work, licensed creative arts therapy, psychology, licensed mental health counseling, licensed behavior analysis, and certified behavior analyst assistant services.
