Police officers from the 46th Precinct on routine patrol in Fordham Heights stopped two people attempting to rob a jewelry and phone store last month. However, the two suspects evaded arrest.

According to police officials the incident was reported at Abbasi Jewelers and KAF Wireless phone store, both located at 344 East Fordham Road by Marion Avenue at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20.

Police said the two thieves broke into the two businesses through the basement and removed $10,000 in jewelry but mid-heist, the suspects dropped bags of the stolen merchandise and managed to flee the scene, evading the police.

Norwood News was at the location later that day as the NYPD’s crime scene unit was in the process of removing the stolen merchandise as evidence.

On Wednesday, April 3, an NYPD source said there were no arrests in the case and detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
